How would you describe your style?
I consider myself to be a lifestyle photographer. I love authentic images that are filled with emotion. I gravitate towards natural backdrops and warm sunshine. I seek out honest moments that make you feel something when you look back on your photos.
Most photos are lightly posed, meaning I’ll direct you to start and then encourage interaction and real expressions while keeping it casual and organic. It's like a family play date!
What kind of equipment do you use?
I shoot with Canon 5Ds and all L series lenses.
How long before we receive our images?
My post processing takes around two weeks, often closer to a week. If life at home is crazy and I need more time, I'll be sure to communicate that to you (although it has rarely ever happened!)
What should we wear?
I tell clients to dress in whatever feels natural and not to try something different on the day of your photo session. Just be you. I will send you a detailed preparation guide prior to your session. It includes information about clothes, hair/makeup, and other useful tips to help eliminate stress from your experience.
What if my kids don't cooperate?
I love getting to know my clients’ kids, even the ones who are shy/stubborn/you name it! I always approach the session as a new friend who’s just there to play and have a good time. That being said, not every moment of the session is perfect, and that’s totally OK — in fact, it’s encouraged! Down the road you'll appreciate the photos of crying / comforting moment parenting just as much as the happy / smiley ones. My goal is to capture all sides of your kids' personalities.
What tips to you have to help the session go smoothly?
Most importantly try to relax and enjoy your time with your family. Coming prepared is a great way to help you do that. Make sure kids have a snack before we start. It helps to have tissues, water and more snacks on hand. Stay calm if things don't go how you expected. I'm pretty good at going with the flow during these sessions, so leave the hard stuff to me.
Where do the sessions take place?
Typically sessions take place either outdoors or in my clients’ homes. For outdoor sessions, I’m happy to provide location suggestions around the Boulder area. Newborn sessions work best at home so that we can can have more control over the environment. Travel is included for locations covered within 30 minutes. I'm happy to travel to the mountains for your session. Travel will be billed at $60/hour.
How many photos do we get in a session?
We will present 40-60 images in your gallery. This varies depending on what type of session, how much time we have and how many people are involved.
What if I'd like to keep our photos private?
All clients sign an optional model release before the session. If you would prefer to keep your images private, you may indicate your request at that time. For clients who choose to decline the model release, I absolutely respect your decision and will keep your images under lock and key.
We are ready to book, what is the next step?
I can’t wait to work with you! Please send me a message through my contact page and we’ll come up with a game plan for your session. After that, you’ll be able to sign your contract and submit your payment online.
I'll also send you a short questionnaire to help me get to know you and your hopes/goals for the session.
