In our call prior to their wedding day Kate and Walid had some concerns about the weather on their wedding day. I assured them that everything would be fine and not to fret about the forecast, but then when I started following the forecast more closely I became a bit concerned over my overly optimistic weather outlook. On the day of I rolled up prepared with umbrellas and rain coats, but just as I walked in to greet Kate the sun came through the trees of the gardens! It was a beautiful day for Kate and Walid to get married at Chatfield Botanic Gardens!
After some fun getting ready photos I took Walid out to a field and got him in place to see his bride for the first time. As Kate approached, I was so in awe of our landscape (thank you Colorado!!). The green grass and the blue Colorado sky was so picturesque! Kate and Walid set against it was a photographer’s dream. They shared a sweet, exuberant moment together before we joined the family and wedding party for some pre-ceremony photos.
A few minutes prior to the ceremony Kate and Walid’s Rabbis held a private blessing ceremony with their parents. It was a touching and emotional moment together before heading for the ceremony site. Kate and Walid’s hoopa was adorned with the prayer shawl that Kate’s father wore for his first communion. The ceremony was complete with many Jewish traditions and personal touches. Tears were shed and laughter rippled through the crowd as the couple exchanged their vows.
With the breaking of the glass and the collective shouts of “mazel tov” Kate and Walid were married! After a few minutes of photos together they were reunited with friends and family for cocktail hour. The wedding guests enjoyed signature cocktails, appetizers and yard games before moving inside for a buffet put on by Relish.
Following dinner the toasts were full of emotion and humor. Kate and Walid had so many beautiful moments during there wedding day, but my favorite part of the day was getting them out for sunset photos by the lake at Chatfield Botanic Gardens. It was a moment for Kate and Walid to sneak off and enjoy some alone time (with my camera and I in the distance!) together. I loved that when I asked Kate if she was willing to sit in the grass she did not hesitate for even a minute about getting it dirty.
Back at the reception Kate and Walid jumped right into their first dances and the hora with their guests. It was such a spirited and energetic celebration. A huge thanks to Jason at Elie DJ for keeping the crowd on the dance floor and helping to create these fun dancing photos!
It was such a pleasure to work with these two and I could not be happier to kick off my spring weddings in Colorado with these love birds! Thank you for the team at Chatfield for the support and especially the golf cart rides! Thank you also to Brittany at Muse events for the great planning that went into this day.
